Southeast Sunflowers 4-H minutes
ST. PAUL — The Southeast Sunflowers 4-H Club held their monthly meeting on April 13 at 5 p.m. at the St. Francis Parish Hall in St. Paul.
Roll call was “Name Your Favorite Animal” and was answered by 21 members and 2 leaders. Kevin Carpenter was welcomed as a guest and prospective member.
Song leaders led the group in singing “Happy Birthday” to all club members celebrating April birthdays. The previous month’s minutes were read and approved.
Members were reminded that weigh-in and tagging for swine, sheep and meat goat will be on May 3 from 9-11 a.m. Also, sign-up sheets for a club fund-raiser were available. The club will be providing concessions at the Smith family auction on April 26 at the Neosho County Fairgrounds. Each family was asked to bring a pie or pot of chili and sign-up for a time to work. The club was reminded they will be doing a community service project, cleaning the school flower beds after the May 4 meeting.
President Jason Vitt, asked the club if they would like to sponsor an award, as done in previous years, at the Neosho County Fair this year. A motion was made, seconded, and passed for the club to sponsor an award.
Aubrey Corn, Noah Smith and Brent Vitt gave talks on their 4-H projects. Members and their families enjoyed refreshments following the meeting.
The next meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on May 4 with a community service project immediately following.
Hepler Hustlers 4-H April Meeting
The April 21, 2008 meeting was called to order by President Sara Harris with the flag salute. Roll call was how many days till school is out? There were 20 members present. Secretary Tristen Broce read the March minutes and Vanessa Scott gave the treasurer’s report. Reporter Codie Beerbower gave the reporters report. Leaders report was given by Jeanie Beerbower. The dates set for the Arma care center to plant flowers had to be canceled, everyone is to have the flower money turned in by April 23rd. Stanley product will be brought to the May meeting for each 4-H family to sell as a fundraiser, and reminder of the weigh ins for 4-H animals. New business is to call Arma Care Center and set up new time in June, theme for the 4th of July parade was discussed Vanessa Scott moved for it to be “BOOMTOWN DAYS OF HEPLER” Trevor 2nd, all approved. Shelby Newman gave a project talk on her projects she will be taking to the fair. Kooper O’Brien gave a project talk on sheep. Mitchell Newman gave a demonstration on a CO2 car he had made at school. Hannah Beerbower gave a safety talk on crossing the road. Trevor moved to adjourn the meeting with the club pledge; Kooper 2nd, all recited the club pledge and enjoyed refreshments provided by the Larry Beerbower, JR family.
