Galen A. Gaston, 85, of rural Pittsburg, Wednesday after a short stay at Medicalodge South in Pittsburg.
He was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Cherokee County, the son of William Ray and Ruby Bell (Doss) Gaston. He attended area schools.
On Feb. 14, 1946, he was united in marriage to Doris L. Bower on the family farm in Cherokee County. She survives him of the home.
Galen was a farmer/stockman for many years retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the FFA, National Farmers Organization, Farm Bureau and the Gents and Janes Square Dance Club.
Additional survivors include a daughter Lorna and husband Gary Alford of rural Galena; a son Dennis and wife Weda Gaston of rural Pittsburg; a brother Gilford Gaston of Royal, Ill.; sister Gloria Thomas of Pittsburg; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Gail Davidson, and a brother Gerald Gaston.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home with Elder Vivian Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Crocker Cemetery.
