Jack A. Templin, 77 of Pittsburg died April 22, 2008 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg.
Mr. Templin was born August 15, 1930, in Bluff City, the son of Dan and Beulah (Huddleston) Templin. he received his bachelor of science degree in education from Kansas State Teachers College (known today as Pittsburg State University) and post-graduate degree from Wichita State University.
Hek served his country in the United States Navy. He received the United Nations Service Medal, National Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and China Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 12, 1956, with the rank of first lieutenant.
He was married to Dorothy Hammer on August 17, 1956, in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives of the home.
Mr. Templin was a regional manager for KG&E for 35 years He retired in 1992.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Pittsburg and belonged to the Paul Harris Fellow Pittsburg Rotary Club, Boy Scouts of America, Pittsburg and Independence Chambers of Commerce, PSU Alumni Association, Little Balkans Celebration, various Economic Development Organizations and the Westar Energy Retiree Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons Scott Arnold and his wife Jann Reed-Templin of Frankfort, Ill., and Steven Allen and his wife Debbie Templin of Colleyville, Texas; brothers Richard (Dick) Templin of Lake Kiowa, Texas, and Bob Templin of Wichita; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Reed and Chandler Templin; step granddaughter Amber Wood and step great-granddaughter Ashby Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Templin.
Private family inurnment services will be at a later date at Ft. Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott. There are no services planned at this time.
