NEODESHA — Girard junior J.D. Heatherly battled the wind to shoot even par on the first nine holes of the Neodesha Invitational on Tuesday.
On the back side, he was just 2-over to finish 2-over-74 and first place individually to lead the Trojans to a team title at the tournament.
Teammate Trey Scallions was just four shots back of Heatherly with a 78 and finished third overall.
Trent Boultinghouse was sixth individually with an 83 while Ben Paoni also shot an 83 to place ninth and Trenton Mein was 10th with an 84.
Zach McFarland was one shot back of the top 10 with an 84 to tie for 13th individually.
As a team, the Trojans (318) finished 18 strokes better than runner-up Jayhawk-Linn (336). Caney Valley, Burlington and Neodesha rounded out the top five teams.
