Eight GHS Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America officers attended Leadership Camp at Pittsburg State University on Friday, Sept. 5.
    The Leadership Camp provided general information about FCCLA as well as workshops on leadership skills. Officers also discussed and assigned duties for the Fall Conference in November at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium. Girard FCCLA will be in charge of door prizes.
Officers include Logan Root, president; Carly Twarog, vice president; Morgan Powell, secretary; Nikki Cuthbertson, treasurer; Kayla Sayre and Alicia Jameson, historians; and Megan Kichler and Caleb Warner, Student Council representatives.
    The annual Bring Your Own Banana Party was held after school Sept. 10 to kick off the school year and welcome new FCCLA members. Members enjoyed banana splits while planning activities for the 2008-09 school year.
    Mrs. Barr, who has sponsored FCCLA at GHS for 24 years, stated, “We have an energetic group, and we’re looking forward to doing a lot of the activities we have planned. It’s going to be a good year.”
