The 2009 Girard High School Yearbook Staff attended a workshop at Pittsburg State University on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
Jeff Jasper and Tom Shields of Josten’s organized the workshop for area schools.
While there, the staff viewed yearbooks from other schools for ideas, received photography and layout tips, learned many new design techniques, finalized the theme, and designed the 2009 cover with a Josten’s artist.
This year the theme is “Defining Ourselves.” For each section of the yearbook, a definition will be used that best defines students as Girard Trojans.
The 2009 cover will be silver with maroon lettering. Inside the letters “GHS” will be black and white photos with maroon color bursts.
Yearbook sponsor Erin Taylor said, “The cover workshop is always a fun time. Our Yearbook Staff generated many new ideas for our book.”
The 2009 staff includes Natalie Blair, design editor; Katie Bradshaw, text editor; Danielle Geier, photo editor; Starr McLeod, business manager; and Katie Viets, text editor.
Mrs. Taylor commented, “Even though we have a smaller Yearbook Staff this year, I believe it will lead to more productivity as well as a more precise yearbook.”
