The Girard High School Foreign Language Club began the 2008-09 school year with a meeting on Friday, Sept. 12, in sponsor Angela Kunshek’s classroom.
FLC members voted for officers via ballot during the meeting.
The officer team includes Gannon Bauer, president; Logan Root, vice president; Canese Jarboe, secretary; Kaylea White, treasurer; and Tessa Westhoff, Student Council representative.
Candidates had the option of standing and giving a brief speech to promote themselves. Mrs. Kunshek collected ballots and then directed the meeting towards fundraising and other creative ideas.
Students discussed hosting some events that were successful last year, including a Spanish-themed school dance and a Foreign Language Club “fun night.”
Other proposals included a Fall Festival booth or exhibition representing the club.
Members will soon have a meeting to vote on T-shirt designs.
