GHS elects new class officers

Girard High School students elected 2008-09 class officers during seminar on Friday, Aug. 22.
Candidates for office submitted a petition with 15 student signatures and gave a brief speech in order to run for office. Classes voted for their officers via ballot.
Senior Class officers are Macon McNair, president; Taylor Batson, vice president; Natalie Blair, secretary; Canese Jarboe, treasurer; and Danielle Geier and Taylor Woods, Student Council representatives.
Junior Class officers are Will Holt, president; BryAnna Burks, vice president; Tyler Egbert, secretary; Katie Viets, treasurer; and Maria Wilson and Trevor Scott, Student Council representatives.
Sophomore Class officers are Natalie Duling, president; Darcy Boultinghouse, vice president; Haley Brown, secretary; Cody Bradshaw, treasurer; and Michaela Bauer and Manuel Lalicker, Student Council representatives.
Freshman Class officers are Krista Jarboe, president; Megan Bennett, vice president; Katie Nepote, secretary; Ben Coomes, treasurer; and Georgette Searan and Johnathon Kovacic, Student Council representatives.
The newly elected officers have begun working with class sponsors to plan fundraisers and activities.
The Senior Class held a student labor auction at the community pep rally on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Class members were “sold” to the highest bidder for three hours of labor, which must be completed by the end of October. The class is also selling mesh sport bags with the Girard Trojan logo printed on them.
The Junior Class is taking pre-orders for potted mums, which will be delivered in late September. Colors include bronze, yellow, white, rose, and lavender.
The Sophomore Class is considering options for fundraising.
The Freshman Class will run the concession stand at home varsity football games.
